Battlefield 4 arrives for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on Friday and the majority of players will ignore the lacklustre campaign, instead opting to jump straight into the impressive multiplayer game. Those unseasoned in the art of Battlefielding will find the experience somewhat overwhelming, so we've put together some helpful tips on how best to to get started in Battlefield 4 multiplayer.
Because each kit is better suited to a particular play style, the class you choose to play as should be based around the way you like to play shooters. If you'd rather hang back and pick off targets from a distance, Recon is the class for you. Alternatively, if you prefer close quarters combat and want to earn your stripes by helping those wounded in battle, the medic-focussed Assault kit is yours for the taking. Support is useful to players who want to lay down heavy firepower while replenishing their teammates' ammo, but it's the Engineers who often tend to come out tops thanks to their ability to destroy vehicles with their arsenal of explosives.
In reality, though, there's really no right or wrong answer. Pick the class you're most confident playing as and remember to keep an eye on what the rest of your squadmates have chosen. Unless you're all top marksmen, four Recon members will struggle to compete against a balanced team of soldiers. Work together, stay alive, and remember to repair those vehicles!
