Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD is coming to XBLA on July 18 (PS3 at a later date) and brings with it a collection of the best levels from the first two games - you'll be able to get THPS3 stages as DLC. With the game about to make a return, we look back at what made it so popular.

The Music was great

It might be a bizarre first entry in this list, but the music in the original Tony Hawk games really is brilliant. There was a great mix of reasonably well-known bands alongside newcomers, creating a soundtrack that fitted perfectly with the game's young audience. Particular favourites included Goldfinger’s Superman and Primus' Jerry Was A Race Car Driver.
