Epic vice president Mark Rein believes Microsoft has "nailed it" with its newly announced Surface tablets and can't wait to see Unreal Engine-powered games running on the devices.

"Microsoft NAILS IT! Way to go Microsoft! Surface looks AWESOME! Can't wait to get some Unreal Engine games on those babies!" he Tweeted.

Rein is also hopeful that being Windows devices, Surface tablet will have full support for the Xbox controller.

"Microsoft: I suppose, being a proper Windows 8 device, that Surface will fully support the Xbox game controller. If so: bravo!"

Commenting on the industry's announcements over the last few weeks, which include the new Retina display MacBook Pro, he added: "Future looks even better for gamers on all sorts of awesome platforms and I'm super happy that we'll power all sorts of great experiences on all sorts of exciting next-gen devices from all the great hardware companies!

"Gosh I love this business!!!"
